Father’s Day is almost upon us and we’ve been seeking out last minute ways to treat the men in our life this year. Here’s how we will be spending the day in the city we treasure.
THE OXFORD ARTISAN DISTILLERY
Naturally, there’s no better option than to kick off the day with Trip Advisor’s number one thing to do in Oxford; a distillery tour with us at The Oxford Artisan Distillery. A fun and friendly day out, you’ll be welcomed to our 18th century threshing bar with a full-size drink and treated to a variety of tasters. Our seasonal garden bar is currently open, so enjoy your tour and kick back in the garden with a delicious cocktail after.
OXFORD GOLF CLUB
If your dad likes to keep active, a day out on the golf course may be the way to go. Oxford Golf Club is located just two miles from the city centre and boasts an 86-acre course, featuring 18 holes. The Oxford Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in England.
After all that tranquillity and (mostly) healthy competition, it will definitely be time for a beverage.
THE HEAD OF THE RIVER AND THE PERCH
What’s Father’s Day without a good beer? We never want to find out, which is why a pub is next on our list. The Head of the River provides a stunning view of Oxford’s River Isis, situated next to the bridge along Abingdon Road. They serve everything from modern craft beers and classic cask ales to a refreshing glass of Pimms. Equally, The Perch provides an alternative historic riverside pub option. The Perch is adjacent to the Isis (Oxford’s stretch of The Thames) and Port Meadow (a remarkable, 86 acre meadow complete with a view of the Thames and roaming ponies).
SIGHT-SEEING RIVER-CRUISE
All those riverside views may have whet your appetite for our next recommendation; a sightseeing river cruise. Relax, bask in the sunshine and take in the landmarks that make Oxford so special. This is the quintessential Oxford way to take in the sights. These tours are typically around 40 minutes in length and at around the £10 mark we’d go as far as to say it is one of the best ways to spend a tenner in the city. Trust us, we know a thing or two about stringing together a good tour in Oxford.

After a day of being out and about, you will all most likely be ravenous. Located in the heart of Oxford, with a view peeking out onto Oxford’s iconic Radcliffe Camera and St Mary’s Church, Quod is a dining experience not to be missed. The head chef and his team produce daily blackboard specials, with an emphasis on British produce.
